Tom,

I, too, and, I'm sure, the rest of the divers out here, would be very
interested in hearing the answers to Dan Volker's questions. Like Dan,
even though I don't know you personally, I believe you have the _integrety_
to go after a student in trouble, without regard for your personal safety.
Am I wrong? And shouldn't _your_ agency, IANTD, and _all_ the intructors
it represents, reflect this integrety? I and many others await your
answers. I've participated in IANTD training, (not in Florida) and if I
believed for _one second_ that the instructor wouldn't do everything
possible to help me should I for _any reason_ run into trouble during the
dives, I would have run for my life! I believe that's what being an
instructor is all about, helping divers learn skills that if done correctly
can be excuted safely and easily, and being there, willing to help, yes,
even willing to risk one's life, for the inevitable times when problems
occur. Don't let us down, Tom.

>Tom, is it IANTD "Standard Operating Procedure", for instructors to " NOT
>PURSUE" , a sinking student?

"Should an IANTD instructor, who is "buddied" to his
>student, NOT PURSUE this student, should the student begin a descent
>which clearly represented the student was in an emergency situation" ????

>Is it IANTD policy to tell a class of your students, that it is, "everyman
>for himself, and if you have an emergency, your on your own, because if I
>have to help you, it could jeopardize my own life"...????

> What is an acceptable level of safety protocol for an instructor to
>set up for a dive???

And if a 300 foot dive is so life threatening, that an
>instructor has to brief the students that if they have a problem, no one
>else will be able to help them, due to the strong likelihood of a multiple
>death tragedy, would this not indicate an UNACCEPTABLE level of risk for the
>dive in question???

Would this not be reckless disregard for human life, to
>bring students into a situation so extreme, that they can expect no help
>from their instructor, should they experience a problem??

Would this not be
>a potential _suicide_ dive???

>HOW is it possible for IANTD to crank out an instructor trainer so fast????

>Do you want people to see IANTD as a reflection of Tom Mount, or as the
>agency of cowardice.
