Hi Fred, In answer to your question, in my experience with the Voltrex, it does *not* characteristically freeflow. I have a Voltrex which I have had since 1994 or so...I never had a bit of trouble with it as long as it had been serviced by a very good technician. However, the technician that I used to go to has left the business. The past two years I have had it serviced by two different technicians, neither one of whom managed to cure a "wet breathing" problem. The Voltrex has been retired. I bought a ScubaPro.
