     Fred,
I had Mares Navy regulator couple of years ago and it worked fine
after purchase. But after the first service,, I experience the same
type of problem your describing plus getting water in the second
stage. I tried another tech, but still he could no get it back to the
original performance. Button line finally called Mares USA, and found
a factory tech that got the reg. performing as good as new (mailed it
to Mares USA in Colorado). Try calling Mares USA 1-800-874-3236 x297
     Linda Jehle.

     Good Luck,

     - Carl

I was wondering if anyone has any comments about the Mares Voltrex
regulator. I have two. One seems to like to free flow a lot more than the
other. (It is my secondary).

I was told that it did have a tendency to free flow, but the frequency in
the one with the problem is quite a bit higher than the other; like every time
I jump into the water. The other night, I did a gentle roll into a pool and it
misbehaved. So I switched to it, (the other reg was fine), breathed on it
for a few minutes, and switched back to the other reg. The massive free
flow was now gone, but it still "bubbled" a bit.

A little more info - it has had regular maintenance, but is not new - about
3 years old. A question may be asked about the quality of the
maintenance, but the technician has a stellar reputation, so I don't think
that poor maintenance is the problem.

Anyway - thanks in advance for your comments / help.

Cheers -

Fred K.
