I dunno guys. I am certainly going to continue to use a totally separate pony bottle for recreational dives, but all this thing really does is top off via a check valve from an existing source. Beats the hell out of a spare air, since it has 6cu ft vs. 2.7 for the spare air. And you can take the whole assembly and screw it into a 13 cu. ft bottle, which is enough to give adequate bailout for most recreational scenarios. I think the product has a valid niche in recreational diving. Obviously, once you cross over that grey line into tech diving, *all* of these bailout solutions are rediculous. But basically, the thing is just a self-filling small pony bottle with an integrated first stage. Cave diving "Hogarthian" barely applies to recreational diving, so don't over-extend the model. Granted, I wear a singles and Jr. wings for AL80 singles reef diving, because it feels freer - kinda like boxers vs. briefs - but lets face it, recreational equipment is fine for recreational "buddy" diving, and this product is clearly aimed at the recreational market. After all, nobody is going to take the thing to 350ft, or into a cave. -Will On Thu, 30 Apr 1998, KybrSose wrote: > Jim, > > This guy was at beneath the sea this year, really made one laugh to talk to > him, no clue what a failure his abortion is going to be. > > Only better laugh was the guy selling a lift bag inflator shaped like an hour > glass as a "low profile safe second regulator" This jackass suggested that > those guys in WPB " would be alive if they knew about my new..."
