Subject: help with wings
I just bought a set of wings and a backplate/harness. The wings are the
AUL standard 65# lift variety, and are typically used with doubles. The
backplate is also AUL.

Initially, at least for this season, I want to set this up with a
single LP-95. Eventually I'll go doubles (LP-95s) which is why I bought
the 65# wings and didn't opt for their smaller wings which are supposed
to work better with singles.

Here are my questions:

1) Mounting the tank to the Harness: I know that both Diverite and OMS
sell (for an obscene price) a singles mounting adapter. However the AUL
backplate has slots cut in the center "V" to accept 2 cam buckle
straps. This would allow use of a single tank without the pricey
singles mounting adapter. Another advantage is that it keeps the tank
profile as low as it can be. The disadvantages seem to be that slits
would have to be cut in the center webbing of the wings to allow the
straps to pass through, the brass grommets on the wings will be pinched
between the backplate and the tank (probably not good for the grommets
or the tank), and the tank might not be very stable as it is braced only
by the narrow flat on the center "V" of the harness. Does anyone have
any experience mounting a single this way? Is it a good solution, or
should I just buy or make a singles mounting adapter?

2) Bungie'ing (sp?) the wings: I've had different people tell me
different things on this subject. Since I'll be using a single, I'm
concerned that the wings will just wrap up around the tank, especially
since they are wide (for doubles). Others have said this may not be a
problem and not to bother with adding the bungies. Does any one have any
experience here? If I do add the bungies, how many and where should I
add grommets? Also, what is the best bungie stuff, thin bungie cord or
surgical tubing? What's the best method here?

Thanks for any advice.

Tom
