To give you another 'thread' on delayed surface Marker buoys, I'll try to simply describe the one I use. It consists of a plastic/rubber tube, around 6feet long. This is thicker and seemingly sronger than the Polar Bear lifting bag I also use. One end of this tube is sealed(although I know the same manufacturer.. whose name escapes me) has another model with a dump valve). The other end has a 1" webbing stitched into it and a short folded length of webbing hangs from it. To this webbing I've attached the 15m of line and the perspex/plexiglass lead centred drop weight I use. The line is wrapped around the perspex end over end as would a childs kite string be, into V's in either end. Now I use this item to inform my boat/shore cover of my position and that I'll be ascending at this point after completing decompression/safety stops as necessary. The bag itself has a outline of a dive with a camera and an arrow pointing down, supposedly to show what's happening below it. Does this make it any clearer...?
