Hi. I'm booked on a Trimix course the first week of June with Jarrod Jablonksi. Unfortunately, the other student who was doing the course with me has had to cancel. So there is at least one space, possibly two, on the course (JJ said = he will take up to three students). If anyone is interested in filling the vacant slot, please email JJ at JJCAVE@AO*.CO*. Iain Robertson ---> Description of Trimix Course <--- Trimix Course This 4-5 day course is designed for the experienced deep diver who wishes to safely explore greater depths. This course maintains small numbers and is especially structured around the participants. Discussions include a working knowledge of trimix (oxygen-helium-nitrogen) advanced gas physiology, planning and operations, mix selection, staging, accelerated decompression techniques, mixed gas tables, gas blending, and gas analysis. Equipment = requirements are=20 similar to full cave with the addition of one oxygen clean tank and regulator, and one nitrox tank and regulator. The Trimix course may vary depending on the divers' experience. Divers that have not received full cave certification from me may be required to engage in additional training possibly impacting the course fee. A diving resume is required prior to participation in the Trimix course. Prerequisites: Full Cave Diver, Eanx Cave, or Technical Nitrox , = minimum of 200 logged dives. A diving resume is required prior to acceptance into the Trimix Diver course. This course may be combined with some of the required prerequisites. Course Content: Lecture topics and actual dives will focus on a variety of areas: Personal limitations Navigation Advanced decompression procedures Crisis management Deep diving (maximum depth 300 feet) Operational planning Bottle management Extended Penetration Gas management Equipment configuration Gas blending Oxygen cleaning Training is conducted within a minimum of 3 days. Typical course format is four-five days. The first two days of training are tailored precisely to the students experience and may include a day of shallow cave diving. The following days are typically conducted at Eagle's Nest and Dipolder. Bottom times typically run between 20 and 30 minutes and will include roughly 60-90 minutes of decompression. All advanced training is tailored to the students needs. Combination courses or advanced penetration courses are available. Weekday training is strongly recommended. Equipment Requirements: Personal diving equipment with the following additions: double tanks with manifold, two first stages each supplying one second stage (one of which must = have a seven foot hose), a pressure gauge, 25 watt light with single burn time of at least 60 minutes (120 minutes / day), two reserve lights, harness and wings type buoyancy compensator, decompression tables, safety reel, suitable thermal protection (72=BAF / 21=BAC), two timing devices (preferably wrist mounted). One = timer should have a stop watch function. Fees: approximately $600 (depending on course structure and student experience) Additional Costs: Air fills, rental equipment, transportation, lodging, food, and certification cards. Estimated admission fees - $50 Estimated air fill fees - $50 Estimated gas fees - $175 (Oxygen @ $0.15 / ft3, Helium @ $0.30 / ft3) -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
