i sent you another long reply provately but to add to it...

again...the issue for me isn't that yoyu can dive as you like.
of COURSE you can and i can too...
the issue as i see it is that instructors should be practising what they teach.
otherwise students clearly get the message that "better" divers don't need
to follow the rules.

Exley had a goal and used, one assumes, the best available technology to
accomplish it.
he didn't decide to do it on air because it would be a "thrill".
