Snip- What I want to see is either one new agency, or one of the existing agencies (IANTD), create a much more stringent proceedure to get certified to tech level. Making it more exhausitive, with better control of who is teaching for them, will save lives, and prevent the mass marketing of a sport that would never be safe for mass marketing, any more than Formula One racing would ever be safe if it were somehow opened up to everyone ( or if you don't like this example, then how about as unsafe as if any American, could accompany a SEAL Team on dangerous covert assignments----there would be some Americans who are not SEALs, who could live through this, but NOT a great number). Taking this another step, ....Do you have a "Right" to be a SEAL???? Maybe you do if you can pass the mental and physical standards....if you can't , clearly the answer is NO! There is no way you are going to lose the present ease of tech certification , from at least one agency---and there should always be a freemarket driven niche for the low level agency who will certify anyone for tech. There may always be obese, pot smoking, lazy slobs who have Brett Gilliam posters hanging by their sofa, so they can toast him to their next 6 pack of beer. I see this as sad, but very true .... But you better hope they don't have so many accidents that they bring Federal regulation on us.
