No, they have to get certified same as anyone else, up the chain. Toyo, the guy who knows about diving, is now an IANTD Adv. EANx instructor. He went and spent a month in florida and got training. Before that he had never used Nitrox. Oh, and I think he is also a atlantis rebreather instructor now. I think next month he is going back to florida to become an instrctor trainer and technical EANx certified (not as an instructor). The thing that worries me, is that when he got back from his training in florida, he came back with some gear. All strokery. OMS bondage wings and dual bladders. He knows the IANTD line, but beyond that, he doesn't have much experience. > I know you are a responsible, fit guy, but given your (relative) > inexperience as far as tech diving goes, I am horrified that they > require you to give them guidance. Yeah, just don't blow my cover with them. They think I am some sort of tech diving guru. I just relate to them what I read here and on the rebreather mailing list. I guess since I know where to get information, that puts me a couple of steps up. If they knew how clueless I really was, they probably wouldn't listen to me. They are doing things fairly safely for now. So far, only basic EANx courses have been tought, and the staff at the dive shop have been tought Adv. EANx with doubles. (Independednt doubles, that is.) Things are just moving really sloooowly. Andrew -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'.
