IF it weren't for my mini Q-40 (UK light w/ 4 AA batteries, no ext.
switch), I'd believe you. I'd heard the grief people had w/ UK whitches
before the "Q" line went to the "SL" line (ie: Q-40 to SL-4). I haven't
had any problem w/ my SL-4 and SL-6 in years of use AND abuse. But the
problem I have w/ the mini light is that the contact that runs from the
bottom to the base of the bulb housing fatigues where it's bent back and
forth contacting the bulb base (being turned on and off). It gets to a
point where it no longer springs back far enough to contact the bulb base
when the outer lens is screwed down. Has your light been used long
enough to see if that problem will rear it's ugly head??? For now, I
think I'll stick w/ my SL lights (4 + 6). Their track record has been
almost perfect. Actually, perfect if you disclude the dry caving
abuse/failure they've endured.

Actually, my half witted comment on their price was a lesser concern
compared to how they operated (turned on). I immediatly noticed the
resemblance to my UK mini light.
