The O-Ring that seals the regulator to the valve is much better protected by a DIN valve but it certainly does not "eliminate" it as a failure point. A valve-to-regulator O-Ring failure (either yoke or DIN) is handled by valving off that regulator and switching to an alternate regulator mounted on the other valve. A tank-to-regulator O-Ring failure or a failure of a valve or burst disk requires a crossover valve to be closed in order to save the gas in the other tank.
