Jim,

I said "...if your going way offshore..."

   Do you make your choice of gear based on location and conditions? 

   Does it often  become a "game time" decision??

    Doesn't this conflict with the concept of carrying the same basic rig
always?

   If I cant see land,   I want to have some device that makes it
easier(possible)for me to be seen _from the air_ .  Emphasis added.

   Regardless of conditions prior to the dive. 

  But maybe thats just me.
