I hate to speak evil of the dead, but so called technical training under
the tutelage of Andre Smith was a ticking timebomb. I dove on trips trough
divers supply several times, and each time I questioned why I patronized that
store. Andre would ask what kind of nitrox fill I would want (32%) and then
would routinely fill it to 38-39% saying "oh that is good for the 100 foot
dives around here , Its a reef mix." I onl dove with Andre one time and was
horrified by his slobbish appearance, and hiscomplete hoovery`. He would burn
up a tank in no time flat. This in diret contrast to his being a Supposed
Special forces team member, with the rebreather certifcate on the wall to prove
it. I kno of only one peron who was or is a seal and he never brought the fact
up. The tradgedy of this situation is that it could have been avoided. The
actions of some of the particpants n this charade see to point to he guilty
parties here, the dive boat, the deco weenie and the poorly rained student who
had no business taking a class at this level. Also the evidece of a cover up
keeps oning to problems in the way in which tradgedies such as these are
invesigated, and how thins are bieng swept under th proverbial rug.
