THE WKPP OFFERED TO DIVE THIS SITE ALL WEEK - HIRSHMAN LED US ON UNTIL
LATE EACH NIGHT AND THEN CALLED IT OFF. HE CLAIMED A SUBMARINE WAS DOING
IT, THAT THE SHERIFF SAID WE HAD TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY (THAT WAS BULL).
WHEN WE FINALLY GAVE UP ON HIRSHMAN AND CHARTERED OUR OWN BOATS, DIVERS
SUPPLY CALLED THEM ON THE PHONE AND THREATENED THEM WITH NO MORE
BUSISNESS IF THE TOOK US OUT, AND THREATENED TO SUE OLD MAN FRANK AT
FRANKS DIVE SHOP, AND THEN TREATENED ROBERT CARMICHAEL WITH A LAWSUIT IF
HE CAME TO PALM BEACH AT ALL.

We did it anyway, obvoiusly, and used the GPS marks to start our scan
of the bottom. We ran one team of me, Robert and Errol for 8/10 mile at
250 with a 200 foot wide pattern ( easy with Gavin scooters, and the
depth difference over 200 feet is from 260 to 220), and then ran a team
of Ralph Fenton, Tony Martinez, and Dale ( from Voyager) after the first
guys finished deco. On the second dive we started at the same spot as
Minnow. On this dive, Ralph aborted, so Tony and Dale had to do it
alone, slowing the search to only 6/10 of a mile, and complication it by
the fact that we had to put a ball on Ralph while working the other
divers.

Had Divers Supply done the right thing to start wtih, we could have
scoured the bottom . We needed the boats, we have the divers and the
gear - they do not. We will continue to search this botttm for the next
few miles when we can bring our own boats up there. We may not find
anything, but we are going to try.
