Tony :
As far as a pressure container to hold skyblazer flares I would
recommend useing some pvc pipe capped at one end and having a screw fitting
on the other . Most pvc is rated to 300+ PSI or much deeper then i care to
go. The reasons I would recommend using pvc over copper is easy of
construction, cost , and no corrision problems. Depending on the length of
the flares and thickness you could either store 3 of them side by side in a
fat tube 2 1/2" diameter? and store it in your emergancy pocket . The
advantage to a fatter tube is the screw end can have a bigger handle to
allow unscrewing with gloves on. the other option would be a long thin tube
mounted on the side of your tanks.
As for the question of carrying flares I have know a couple of people
who have come up to find there boat or ride has left them (either thru
strokkery or there own fault) . I personally carry a signalling mirror and a
small princton 2 aa flashing strobe & a rolled up sealed @ both ends Red
safety sausage in my emergancy pack with my spare tables. In 18 years of
diving I have only had to use the tables a couple of times due to computer
failure (and thats the way I want to keep it). But I was on the Wahoo one
day when it broke anchor on the wreck of the San Dieago and the entire Crew
Including the Capt. was under water . This was about 10 or more years ago ,
and since then the Wahoo all ways keeps a crew member on board just for that
evantuality.
Hope the info helps
