Steve, Greg I dont know George Irwine, but from postings on this list. Based on what I can subtract from info on here, his group is doing major diving with no or very small number of incedence. I haven't heard of any accidents. (It would be posted in big letters if it was the case). Therefor they must be doing things right. Looking at results on last year, tech diving needs to get their house in order. People stuffing up makes things difficult for others. Why should some people suffer due to mistakes / stupidity of others? Compared to people like George Irwine, Jim Cobb and others I am a very inexperienced tech diver. (Although I am a tech instructor - only Nitrox level). I do not do trimix (yet) and limit my air diving to around 50m (about 150'). I do it for very specific reasons and not as an ego boost or to get high. (That is the floor depth of the area I do most of my dive training. And there are very seldom trimix divers around to go to that level in an emergency) Some people may flame me for that, but so be it. I do not like George, due to his attitude. That do not change the facts stated in the first paragraph. He might have his reasons due to the things he saw and possible near hits that they might have witnessed or prevented. My grype with him is the way he communicates. Also refer to Brian Taylor's letter at the bottom. George could have convinced Brian much earlier if it wasn't for his attitude. Calling anyone names and getting into a personal mud slinging contest, is not going to be good to any one on this list or in diving. By calling him names, you are not going to convince him to change his attitude. Only he can change that and it will only happen when he accepts that he will be serve his course better by doing it. Maybe his (and possibly your) way of doing things are typical of people in the Americas, I dont know. (This is not an attack, it just shows my ignorance / lack of knowledge) I think most of us can learn a lot from George and his team, if you can read pass the "shouting everyone down to proove I am right" way of communicating. It would be just so much easier if it came without that. Everyone is just adding fuel to the fire. You can learn a lot from George. Just don't copy his communicating methods on the net. Yes, I disagree with his way of communicating, but can you find fault with his track record (in diving)?
