Subject: Re: Scooter motors
Steve, I now have Charles Merill and Greg Zambeck redesigning the
scooter for me. Why would anyone want a scooter that will go deep and
long with no problems and can be checked onto an airline as luggage?
What kind of fool would want something this simple?

Motors are $750 plus shipping for the DV100, $500 for the Mako. If you
or anyone else ( who has one of my scooters) wants these, I will order
some new ones . Right now I am holding what I have for the WKPP , but
can have more done in a couple of weeks.

Are you sure you don't want a brushless motor? It only requires a bunch
of other cicuitry which I am sure will work quite well if damp, and
maybe a speed control board, or maybe I can take a coathanger and make
it so you can move the brushboard, or put in a switch so you can change
the voltage of the battereies, or maybe put in a rheostat and a few more
holes in the scooter in case you are not having enough repair fun now.

I can also send you a copy of Bill Stone's book and you can see how to
turn a scooter into a nightmare. I am sure he will be glad to tell you
how to mount the rebreather to the scooter, and suggest names of atomic
weapons for this new device, as well as expert big-timers to tell you
how to operate it.

In fact, if you go to the cavers or techdiver list, there are many fine
engineers who have been several feet into many caves, and who have many
great ideas on dive gear which they plan to implement as soon as they
finish their cave and trimix courses, right after they do their deep air
course.

Many of these rockect sicentists in the cave community have all of the
answers, and I am actively seeking their council on many projects .
Right now , for example, I have on my desk several blueprints for some
fine-looking bongs, and one really clever hashpipe. These cavers and
techdivers are the best. In fact, the "guy who wrote the book on tech
diving" , according to the newspapers, is featured on the front page
this morning - presumed dead following a charlie foxtrot of epic
proportions with pictures to prove it, and a piece on "techdiving" so
stupid as to make you look for the telltale picture of Alfred E. Newman.

It is just a good thing we have all of these qualified players ou there
to keep us going.
