Sami - Sounds like a busy place at the hole with all those people and =
all that gear and all those lines going everywhere.

I haven't seen any of those dudes from MIB yet but I was just concerned =
with the ability to find your way out if the line WAS compromised.   Not =
addressing the possibilities of how it got that way,  just that there =
you are under the ice and your line is broken.   How would you rescue =
yourself?

Ok I'm CMAS diver from Finland and we dive here quite
often under ice so I speak what safety rules we use. The
safety line is maxium 150 feet(50 meter) but line tender gives only
half of it to the diver (25 meter). Only two diver can dive same
time from "icehole". Then you need to have safety diver ready
to dive. All divers have own line tender plus one person ready
to call help, assist CPR etc. So minium amount of ice diving
team is 5 person.

About the diving. Line is tied under weight belt to the diver hips.
It must hold (i dont remember correct weight) but maybe 300 kilopond =
pull. My own lasts probable 500-600.  The line tender
keeps line tight during dive.
