Dear George, I'm a bit concerned here. Lately it seems that there has been a lot of serious engineering going on down yonder in Missouri. First we have Mr. Charles Merrill, our good friend and long time WKPP cheerleader. When Charles is not riding around on his Klingon Cruiser aka Farallon crotch rocket, with custom helmet, hose clamped light and other miscellaneous techno goobery he is trying to sell off his expensive mistakes to some other unsuspecting person on this list. Then we have another outstanding group of NASA escapees, from Missouri, who have yet to show up anywhere with their scooter despite three years of promises. This submarine technological marvel would make Captain Nemo jealous. Not satisfied with conventional propulsion our engineering dream team designed brushless (stepper motors) motors into this eighth wonder of the modern world. Such motors are commonly used in disk drives and I'll bet dollars to donuts that there's a pocket protector, pencil necked geek somewhere at the bottom of this one. It's a well known fact that the best place to stuff digital gadgetry is in a non critical life support device such as a dpv. The reason for this is simple. When the circuits get wet you can be absolutely certain that the scooter will not continue to take you into the cave and in fact there have been documented cases where one of these new fangled controller boards caused the scooter to run backwards. You all know that one of the big problems with Makos and similar dpvs is that they can still operate when the motor compartments flood with fresh water. A dangerous and terrible thing, really. Not to be outdone, this same group of engineers designed cooling fans to circulate the super heated air around the inside of the scooter. It seems that our good friend and well known combustion engineer, Greg Zambeck, who is a specialist on the subject of convection ovens, was a top consultant on this phase of the project. This was a result of research Greg was doing on regenerative cooling after he made the amazing discovery that he could cool his house down when he opened the refrigerator door.
