Last night I saw a set of books called "The Undersea World of Jaque Cousteau," a series of about 20 books like thin encyclopedias. I picked up the one called "Man Reenters the Sea" hoping to find pictures of that slick little backpack they had that held four little cylinders at high pressure for 200 cuft of air. I want one, if you know of a spare. Anyway, couldn't find that, but did see some pictures of some rebreathers I hadn't seen before, including one from General Dynamics. Best part of the whole thing was the last page, describing the future. Quoting as much as I can remember: Someday, work with lung cancer patients will produce a system with external blood shunts, like that of a dialysis machine, that run blood out to a gas exchanger with semi-permiable membranes. This will be adapted for diving, and with his cavities filled with any harmless fluid and special contacts in, man will go deeper than the cetaceans. Let me know if you have one of those, too. ======================================================= Roger Carlson w 310-812-0430 somewhere off Hermosa Beach, CA f 310-812-1363 roger@ch*.sp*.tr*.co* h 310-frogger =======================================================
