Subject: Re: No hints, No rebreathers
I think they will when they get rolling. For some of these, the training
is in the price, and that itself is expensive. If you consider that the
MK16 is at least $50,000 per copy, then some of these do not look so
bad. I think the Biomarine version of the 15.5 , which I believe is
called the 500, is low priced, and I know that Martin Parker's AP Vlaves
"Inspiration" is very low priced.

I can more accurately tell you that none of these guys will get rich
making and selling recreational rebreathers.

The other thing I can tell you is that there are very few situations
where you need a rebreather for what a rebreather SHOULD be able to do.
Other than the specfic long range cave exploration diving that I do with
them, most of my rebreather time was learning various systems, and then
just putting lots of time in on the Halcyon. We intentionally do
unnecesarily long dives in the ocean with them by starting deeper and
ending up on a shallow reef having used up two scooters and wearing out
a boat crew .

At first thsese things are a real novelty, then they are scary, and
then they are matter-of-fact, non-nonsense machines for specific uses. I
can think of several, but then the real bottom line is that I would do
no dive with a rebreather that I could not get out of on scuba, and that
means long hours at the track and the pool, which brings us full circle
to Rule Number Three: "Don't Use a Rebreather Unless You Don't Need To"
