Jeremy Looks like your still getting kicked around regarding this buoyancy thing. For what its worth I dive with twin 12L (steel) and steel side slungs. I never put air in my wings (KISS) and I don't have a problem with air migration (and I do a lot of head down rummaging). This may be due to diving with a Northern Diver 2mm compressed neoprene suit (yes yes - stroke gear, I've heard it all before). As this material stretches, as opposed to trilaminate or shell suits which do not, the suits can be made a better fit ie no baggy legs for the air to migrate to. With no air in my wings I don't have to think about buoyancy once the auto dumps set up. OK, so I may have to wind it back a click or two as the dive progresses and I get lighter but thats no big deal. On the ascent I concentrate on 10m/min and let the auto dump do its job. I appreciate the comment about wasting argon but I dive the deepest part of the dive first and try to keep a decent dive profile. Not easy to do in a cave I know but then I'm not a cave diver. Having said all that I realise that as my trimix diving progresses I will get heavier and soon I will have no option but to use my wings. :-( But that doesn't mean I'll always use my wings for buoyancy from then on. I'll adapt to suit the dive. After all I wouldn't dive with stages, argon, canister lights, lump hammer etc on a 6m reef. Mind you, I wouldn't be without the security of my manifolded twinset. I even wear them in the bath ;-) Happy Holidays to all on techdiver/caver.Even the George Irvine Wannabees.
