Hi Todd, you wrote: > Does anyone have experience with Trilaminate dry suits from > Northern Diver or Bare that they'd be willing to share? > > Thanks... Not much. I took a good look at one last dive show here in the UK, and they seem to be a fairly average sort of trilam. The seals and zip are all standard lightweight stuff (but I guess they'd put industrial strength on if you asked). Fabric looks and feels tough. All standard sort of stuff. Nothing really jumped out at me which set it apart from any other make. One of our guys bought one, and he's been grubbing around in nil viz puddles without any trouble so far. However, Northern Diver are only just breaking into this market, so I have no idea of just how rugged the suit is yet. Drop me a line this time next year for an end of season report (OK...I suspect this may be a bit late :-) ). As for Polar Bear (I think that's what you mean by Bare :-) ), they generally have a good reputation. You can get things like quick-change seals fitted, too (which IIRC you can also seal dry gloves onto). Phil - you out there? Anything to add since you use one? Another good UK make is Aquion - I've been using an Aquion membrane for the past 6 years, and it's _just_ starting to show signs of significant wear. My only gripe with it is that the wrist seals are quite large, which makes using a wrist-slate almost impossible. You can also get them to make you a "Harlequin" (a panel of each colour) which looks pretty cool/gross depending on your sensibilities ;-) Chris -- Chris Pitts, Principal Software Engineer Acorn Applied Technologies Tel: +44 (0) 1223 725 780 Acorn House, 645 Newmarket Road Fax: +44 (0) 1223 725 880 Cambridge, CB5 8PB, United Kingdom WWW: http://www.acorn.com/ -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
