Jeremy-

I think your key words are "shell suit" and "properly weighted". With a 
neoprene (I know, I know, a stroke suit, I'm saving up) this does not 
work because you can't be properly weighted to begin with.

The other issue is when you are getting into lots of head-down attitudes 
(lobstering, wrecking) the less air in your suit the better because it 
all winds up in your feet anyways.
