You might also try closing the deflate valve most of the way until you
begin your ascent, then having it open more.  Like Jim says, just put
enough air in the DS so you aren't squeezed, then forget about it.

Did you forget the part that if you actually _take_ the painkillers, you
will then spend the next two hours vomiting repeatedly, your stomach acid
_burning_ over your newly-sliced gums every time?  So you really have two
choices, lay in bed in excruciating pain, or crouch over the toilet,
vomiting, in excruciating pain.
