Erik- You need some pool time to get your kit squared away. All answers lie in the bottom of the pool. Personally I did not find that I needed a huge weight increase and I have a neoprene suit, only about 5lbs. For a shell, you might find that you need *less* weight. You need to purge the excess air out of your suit before you jump in by crouching down while holding your neck seal open. Dont treat your drysuit as your primary floatation. Put just enough air in it to be comfortable and no more. If you put too much in (a common mistake with new users) it will fuck your trim all up and make ascending a nightmare. Who on earth told you not to use your wings with a drysuit? Whoever it is is an idiot. About your comment about closing your auto valve all the way, you do know that you can manually let the air out? You did read the manual? As far as your teeth are concerned, I'd don't think you are giving your mouth time enough to heal. I remember when I had some molars yanked and the pain was excruciating, I could not eat for a week, much less dive. Having them pulled today, huh? Man, I can feel those pliers now, working back and forth, back and forth. The sick cracking/ripping noise as the tooth gives way. Yes, I remeber the drowning sensation as the blood spurts out in gallons. And that's the first tooth. The second is worse, your fingernails are digging into the hand rests, your toes are curled all up in your shoes. All the while the asshole sadistic doctor is laughing and joking with the nurse. The last two you are hell on earth. You lapse into and outof consciousness, the pain manifests itself as horrifying flashes of color as you realize in horror that the novacane is wearing off. Then you have to eat penicillin for 10 days, the new versions of penicillin are awful. It makes you nauseous and near puking all the time. Here's some advise- After the horror is over, take that dentist by the collars and tell him in very clear terms that you don't like pain. And if you are in pain, you will call him at 3am and scream at him. Tell him you want some knockdown, dragout painkillers or you will rip his head off and shit down his neck. If you are lucky, you *might* get some tylanol 3's. Jim On 12/12/97 1:55 AM Erik Schmidt wrote: >I have recently purchased a drysuit and am learning how to >dive it.
