ALso I am not a SIR, just a regular old human, such as yourself. > >Firstly, the club that ousted me, was technically orientated, but due to circumstances, the old guys never came any more, and the club had consisted of exactly what I talked about - a bunch of instructors who believed decompression diving was a killer and a devilish thing to do. Another dancer, now can you do a break dance?? Bitch, bitch, bitch, your starting to sound like an old woman with PMS. If they want to stay in their realm of diving so be it, go start your own little following. You say that your open minded, but you have not shown that one bit here.. People are happy when they are comfortable with what they are doing, wether it be digging ditches, flinging burgers or what ever.. If these ppl beleave it is a no no to do decompression diving, so be it.. what gives you the right to try and change what they are comfortable with?? > >Secondly: You wrote: >"I my self have been a PADI divemaster for over 7 years now, and by god you all have made me dig out my old manuals.." >So much for being an instructor, unless you became one in the last few hours or you were attempting to hide the fact. When did I ever say that I was an instrutor, I stated that I was a PADI divemaster for over 7 years, does this upgrade me to an Instructor?? Hmmmmmmm maybe if I get my TDI card it would. Listen, just because I am a divemaster does not mean that I do not try to stay up with what is going on in the industry. Yes, and I do have all types of manuals, be it diving or medical. So what is your point???? > > >Further: You wrote: >"So what the hell is wrong with that, you think that as a medical person that I am going to go beyond my realm of teaching??? I don't think so." >That great and I agree full hardly. Problem is, and I don't think its arguable, once a candidate walks off an ITC he thinks he knows it all and does not bother, or is not interested in broadening his own knowledge base - I not saying become a Techie, but get to know more about all aspects of diving, commercial, medical the lot. No, your wrong, not every candidate walks out thinking that he is some kind of diving god, there are a few that think this way, and you read about them as a diving death. From the instructors that I know around the state of florida, most are nitrox, cave, or interest in other aspects of diving. And most of the ones that I have talked to still say the same thing as I do,, "Open Water = Basic entry level" If you want more information on other aspects of diving, as an open water diver, question, questions, and more questions, and training. > >Lastly, YES I WAS a PADI instructor. I have not renewed my membership as I don't train sport or entry level divers anymore. I hardly do any instruction, and I find it a terrible waste to pay some 90 pounds for membership where I never get any benefit. Would you remain a member of a club that you no longer support? > >Dennis Harding. I know that you were/was/could have been a instructor. You say that it was a waste, well that is ok, you can say that.. Life is what you make of it, and getting ahead is work. Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter!!! But all the training agencys have their format, and it works well. If you don't like any of the formats, become another cert agency on your. You still fail to realize what a basic entry level course is, and I can see where this is going to go.... No Where.. Jeff -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
