There are three obvious things wrong with this stupidity

1) You are diving independent twins: See the discussion in the archives on
independent twins.

2) You are unnecessarily convoluting your setup: Either dive with a single
tank, or leave the damn valve open. 

3) What's the point of shutting it anyway?  It doesn't save any gas.
