The bottling out occured after the BSAC ignored the letter - I was asked my opinion and said that George should still come - there was no person in that audience that would have created a problem over 'akward questions' - there is no arguement against the philosophy - you know that. > I was told it >was the members of the uk cave diving fraternity, I am sure that they >read this list so come on guys what is your problem.Speak up. I think the letter was the sum total of their bravery, however I am sure we would all like a 'heads up' for a proper debate. >This crap about the fire alarm is bullshit, if any of you spoke to the >local security they would of told you that it is a regular thing at the >conference hall and had nothing devious behind it, You are right about the regular thing. It is conference centre policy to evacuate as a last resort due to large numbers of people etc (the alarms only sound in certain places & security make the decision to evacuate) We were backstage when this occured & it was a few minutes before the radio message asked for a full evacuation. The organisers felt that some childish interference may occur and had briefed all staff - this coupled to the fact that the actuation was not the normal 'run of the mill' problem and was suspected to be a malicious act.
