>Genreally, most people recommended the G250 over the G500. The problems >reported were: >1) The adjuster knob coming off - which I gather has now been fixed >2) Takes on water when you turn your head or when scootering >3) The plastic design is more flimsy than the G250 and more likely to break >is say a tank fell on it. snip >One person was a little concerned about the quality of parts used in the >newer regs, such as replacing brass parts with plastic etc. Anyone know >anything more about this? > Several years ago, I swy a demonstration while I toured the Sherwood plant in Lockport NY. After dropping a brass second stage and denting it, they threw a plastic one against the wall. After several bounces, it came back unharmed. They also claimed that for them (as brass parts manufacturers) it was more expensive to have the plastic parts made out of house. This was back in the time when the Blizzard was being introduced and was the only plastic reg in their line-up. They were also pushing the thermo properties (less prone to freeze) of the plastic.
