Yes, indeed, I was thinking about including this "false sense of security" as well but forgot while I was writing the rest. I do, however, like to adjust buoyancy using the BC rather than my suit. I find it faster and it can be done in more different positions than when venting from the suit. Also, I absolutely hate the feeling of the gas running back and forth inside the suit (a problem when inflated more than the minimum amount). Besides, my neckseal is trimmed so loose that it can only handle a small pressure gradient anyway, but that was obviously my choice. Egil.
