It's doxycycline, but otherwise correct EXCEPT for the duration after
the trip.
Start the doxycycline 2-3 days before the trip, and continue through
the trip (up to 3 weeks)
It should be continued for 4 WEEKS after leaving the high-risk
area;Take it with a FULL glass of water, and on an empty stomach if
possible, although doxycycline may be taken with food if it upsets
your stomach (which it has been known to do)
it has far fewer side effects than the other antimalarials available
like chloroquin,it's once a day dosing, and readily available in any
pharmacy with a prescription.
Most of these drugs ( including doxycycline) can cause
photosensitivity, so take along a good sun block.
Hope this helps.
