Christo,

I've been on this list for some time. At first I though George was just
blowing smoke. Yeah, maybe he could be a little more polite at times
but I think George is looking at the big picture here, PEOPLE ARE
DYING!! I've read most of George's and others posts about many things.
Although there may not be all that many well known writings on the exact
details of high PPN2 problems it is generally known that problems do
exist! George is "attacking" Gilliam because he (TDI) seems to be the
biggest proponent of Deep Air. Although I may not agree with George all
the time I do listen to what he says, lots of experience in his words.
George isn't in it to make money, certainly not from diving. I've never
met him and have only conversed directly through email a few times.
Since Gilliam is the president of TDI he IS accountable for the actions
of all TDI instructors. There are some good ones out there which break
from the ranks. I have asked my instructor who is also TDI if I would
need "extended range" to get tri-mix certified. He looked at me and
said, "do you want to take deep air?" I said no! He said "good, then
you did remember something from your adv. NITROX course." I won't
mention his name because he's a good guy and I wouldn't want to get him
in trouble. I think George is just worried about more deaths in the
future because of this type of stuff.

I think you have a few courses of action. One is put George in a kill
file. If you think what George is saying is wrong (factually) then
challenge him on it! You don't have to do it publicly on the list,
email him direct. You can always unsubscribe to the list (I don't think
you need to do this). You can take what George says with a grain of
salt the sift through and find the facts and read them. I never believe
something anyone says the first time around. I did do a little reading
on the subject and asked some people I know about RBC rigidity and the
effects. They told me that it was a bad thing physiologically. Getting
narked is also a dumb thing, through it was cool years ago when I was
starting out in diving. Anyway, that's my $.02.

Hope this helps,
Safe diving,
Art.

	Mr G Irivine

I am not one of the so called specialists and "wundermen" like
yourself.
I have never met Brett Gillam and might never do.

This man must be remarkable to control so many divers that was
supposedly
good divers. Every time someone dies, Brett Gilliam is
personally
	responsible.

As a NAUI Instructor, I also teach beginner scuba courses. One
of the
things we teach our students are that they make the final
decision if
they want to dive or not. Are they happy with the conditions,
are they
capable of the situation or not. It is THEIR decision. No
instructor can
or will force someone to dive.

Now I don't know if Brett Gilliam has got such magical powers to
take
over all the TDI Instructors / Divers minds, but actually it
sounds a bit
	far fetch.

It looks much more if you have a personal vendetta against the
man. It is
not that you disagree with him and TDI, its blatently attacking
the man
	personally.

Can I please request you to try and be civilized in your
approach to any
other people on this group. You don't have to agree with anyone.
But you
can disagree in a civilized way.

It is sad enough if a diver of fame (or any diver) dies. Don't
make it
	even worse with your attitude.

This is a direct request, not an attack.

	Regards
