The 13 Reasons We Do Not Use Genesis Tanks 1) they do not hold the rated gas unless at 3500 psi 2) gas does not compress in a linear fashion, so we do not have a good 500 psi of gas between 300 and 3500, for example 3) we have to get them filled cold or beyond that to get the bad fill discussed above, which ruins our regulators ( why stress yuor life support gear?) 4) an aluminum 80 will hold just about the same gas at the same pressure for less than half the price 5) these are really just 72's jacked up with a differenet neck - a standard dive industry screw job 6) the are too heavy for wetsuit diving in the ocean 7) They are too light for drysuit dving anywhere. ocean or fresh 8) if you have a low on gas emergency with genesis , like near 1200 psi, you will be stuck to the roof of the cave while fighting and struggling to get out - a really dangerous situation. This is also true of faber tanks without weight to compensate 9) they have a 5/8 inch neck fitting so require a manifold or valves will not work on other tanks 10) While you can get a dive rite manifold ( I think ) for these, you are normally stuck with the worst piece of crap manifold in existence . I do not know what else is available in the odd size, but then , who cares? 11) these tanks have a pitiful rusting record 12) the longer versions are too long for the meagre amount of gas they hold 13) Only a Stroke, with a capital "S" would be seen with something this clearly sending out the message , " I got screwed by some dive shop monkee, and did not know any better.
