Well, after hassling with the fine (no, really) people at the Government Printing Office, I may finally have an answer. About 2 months ago I ordered the latest version of the "NOAA Diving for Science and Technology" manual released this last July, 1994. The document I received was dated 1991, but had a subscription card in the back for updates. After several phone conversations with GPO and several "wrong" documents later I found "the rest of the story". The document released in July 1994 (P/N 003-017-00543-7) _IS_ the manual released in October 1991 (P/N 903-018-00001-1). In fact, if you look under the label on the 1994 version, the old 1991 P/N is still on the box. The only difference between the 1994 document and the 1991 document is the new version was released with no subscription capability. Yup, that is right. The little card in the back of the manual is no longer valid. It appears that NOAA may not be releasing any more updates. Those of you who ordered (or want to order) the new manual may want to re-consider if it is really necessary. And if you sent in the little card (actually a folding sheet) at the back it was probably a wasted effort since no updates appear to be forthcoming. I will attempt to make contact with NOAA to verify this. :~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~: :Patrick Murphy : murphy@un*.sl*.un*.co* : :Unisys, Government Systems Division :"With their absence, the calm waters, : :McLean, VA :having no memories, no wonder, closed : :(703) 847-2545 :over the spaces they had just occupied: : Opinions expressed are mine alone :as if they had never been there." : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The score: Opinions-3 A**holes-1~~~~~~~John E Conn~~~~~~~
