Was that from changing regs underwater, or did the grit enter through the back of the first stage? Up in Canada, the dive shops tend to push the enviro kit (rubber cap and silicone oil on the back of the first). Maybe it was money I didn't need to spend, way back when, because at least one other Great Lakes diver on Techdiver said his Poseidons have never frozen up without the caps, but the other side is they keep the crap out. I've gone diving in some pretty silty/sandy/crappy water and never had any grief. Also, I've been a bit of a bad boy and haven't gotten them serviced annually like I'm allegedly supposed to, so I still have the good old parts. > ... The old hose arrangement, which I have, with the five ports coming out radially, was a bit of a pain back in my single tank and drysuit days, because at least one hose had to come almost straight up behind your head, but with only two or three hoses out of each first it makes a nice neat Hogarthian setup. They were certainly the reg to have, back in the good old days, but as you say, the past number of years have been worrisome. -- Anthony DeBoer <adb@on*.ca*> -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
