Subject: Re: The latest deeptech article on George Irvine
Did anyone else notice Brett's comment meant to dispel the rumor that NAUI
was supposedly purchasing TDI?

"...I doubt if NAUI could afford to buy a used '56 Buick let alone a
hugely profitable company like TDI..."

(note that THIS quote is not taken out of context, paraphrased, folded,
spindled or mutilated. It stands on its own lack of professionalism and
merit.)

Now, isn't Brett on NAUI's BOD? Didn't he just shoot himself, and NAUI in
the foot?

Was this article supposed to make _George_ look bad?

Hey Brett - step up to the clue bar...I'm buying. You've just committed
one of the most blatant acts of BAD yellow journalism I think I've ever
read. You looking for a piece of the Piggly-Wiggly market share?

I'm not a Deep Tech subscriber - if I was, I'd cancel. Read my lips - we
can read out of context quotes and outright misquotes for free on the 'net
- some of it's informative, alot of it is humorous, all of it is free
(assuming access to the 'net). Who the hell would want to pay for the
garbage you see fit to print?

Think of me as the average subscriber. If something offensive appears on
the internet, or in an email, I can delete it. If it's in a magazine and
it's offensive, even if the issue has otherwise worthwhile content, the
whole mag is going in the trash.

As I see it, this whole deal has the taste, smell and feel of a parting
shot. Brett, your last ditch effort to preserve a bit of dignity before
you crash and burn has failed miserably. I suspect you've lost a fair
percentage of your remaining readership over this one, and that your cash
cow (the "hugely profitable" TDI) is on its way to the rendering plant.

Adios.

Drew
