George,

Thanks for the responce. I've got a couple of questions and follow on
discussion if you don't mind---

When I first started out using Tx in '92, we did exactly what Jim is
doing now -- beginning at lower depths in familiar surroundings is the
way to go. But that gets back to my original reason for my first post
-- Cobb is just **starting** out!!!

Meanwhile, in early Oct, Jim posted the following email (some snipping):
"For those...discouraged by the bullcrap out there concerning...trimix
here's what you need: A whip is $149 and the helium adapter is another
$30 or so....A good gas mix program is available at...Buy a 02 sensor
and a volt meter-...A handbook for dealing with gas companies-...For a
grand total of about $300 dollars you can dive the gas mix you want...If
you understand nitrox mixing, p02, and END, then this is all you need".

George, as the self designated **traffic cop** for "Doing It Right", you
should be willing to ticket your buddies when something like this gets
posted by one of them. You know as well as I do, that the majority of
the community reading these posts WHO ARE NOT DIVING TX are not looking
to go into Tx diving (with the hugh expense and logistical increases
needed) in order to get **increased perception clarity** in the 120-150
fsw range.

Tx is universally associated with deep, difficult, or expedition level
diving such as the dive you decribed in your response to me:
> (snip) I am diving 8% oxygen, 65% helium for the farthest points of the dive,
and 11/55 for the first mile. I am diving 19/33 deco gas up to
120 feet, and 35% nitrox to 70 feet, 50% to 20 feet - no air anywhere in
the dive.

That's what most people are envisioning when they think about going into
Tx, and as YOU of all people know --- it takes alot more info and effort
than what Cobb has "assembled" for his new Tx web site to make you into
a Tx diver. Unless of course you just plan on sucking on your Tx in
front of your keyboard, safely in you house, and well away from any body
of water.

Cobb setting up a Tx site would sort of be like Gilliam setting up a
WKPP site, don't you think??? Same level of actual experience to refer
to....

BTW in regards to other things you said in your post back to me...

1.) Given those gas profiles above, you're descibing an expedition dive.
Specialized Tx and EAN decos are the only way to go if you're going to
do it right. The EC wreck dives I described in my post in the *measily
old* 230-250 fsw range are done the same exact way. Specialized Tx and
EAN deco throughout - no air anywhere in the dive. Agree with you 100%
on this one.

2.)> "(snip) If you think there is some ability to dive deep on air,
think again" -- Very good George!! Agree with you 100% AGAIN on this
one. Deep air is "farm animal" stupid. Okay?? Happy now?? You know
where we both stand on this now...

3.)> "You might also try geting a real email account"--- Not sure what
you are taking about here George??!!?? Erols is a pretty hugh "real"
ISP. Here's their site to confirm it for yourself: http://www.erols.com
I posted enough "personal" info with my first post that you shouldn't be
worried about me *not* being who I claim to be...

Regards,
Karen

PS: George, who is the "Organ Grinder Monkey"?
