>So I had an idea. What if I fitted the housing with an >LP inflator fitting, and pressurized the housing to >a few ATA to offset the external pressure? I have seen a Japanese prototype UW Video the had the system built in. The valve would act as a mini second stage, adding pressure on descent and relieving pressure on ascent. The housing itself was made of thin plastic, it doesn't have to hold any pressure. The controls botton of the camera were made of rubber, they do not hold any pressure too. I do not think the camera is on the market yet. At least not outside Japan. You coude use a simple plastic housing (cheap one) and add a standard second stage to it, at the bottom of the housing, it will adjust the pressure automatically. The only concern are the components of the camera, if any of them is sealed, then they will implode soon or later. You try it first, and let us know.
