The REAL danger is the Coriolis force. You know, the force that makes toilet water spin clockwise in the Northern hemisphere when you flush, and counter-clockwise in the southern hemisphere. If you put the tanks on their side, which way will the O2 spin? The only safe place to fill is no more than 10 degrees of lattitude away from the equator. Also, almost all tank valves are manufactured in the northern hemisphere, so they are clockwise only valves. Filling tanks with clockwise valves in the southern hemisphere is extremely dangerous, something you guys in Oz should be aware of.
