I was there on Saturday doing a little diving. There was a group of
divers that appeared to be doing tech diving. Doubles, argon the whole
nine yards. They where diving on the west end of the lake, entering from
the blacktop road that runs down to the water. Swam by them while they
where doing a stop at 30ft. They had a float quite aways out into the
lake, had to be very deep water, in the general area of the deeps part
of the lake.
The owner of the shop that I was there with called yesterday to inform
me of the accident. A friend of ours that could not make the trip Sat.
and instead was there diving with his son on Sunday said he made an
attempt to rescue the diver. Going down the line to 186ft. finding the
diver only because his light was on. He was unable to establish positive
buoyancy to the diver (who from what I understand was unconscious) and
being low on air had to return to the surface.
