Here's somthing I have noticed over the years and wondered if there was any connection to decompression. As a pilot I noticed that Tonic water on the aircraft had a higher propensity of bursting, especially when hot, than any other carbonated beverage when exposed to lowered pressure. Tonic water also goes flat faster than any other carbonated beverage. The question is: Is there somthing in the Tonic water (quinine?) that causes the CO2 to come out of solution faster and, if so, would drinking this post dive increase your risk of DCI? To brainstorm further... Is there a chemical that would inhibit bubble formation? Just wondering.
