Although I am completely unrelated to this whole incident, as I was unaware that anyone had any problem until I heard it at a Whitefish grocery store, and my boat was out of water when we weren't diving, I may be able to vouch for Steve's information. I was there that weekend and while we were filling our tanks up and hanging around on shore, someone came up to me and asked for a pair of jumper cables to be used to start a boat. They borrowed them, but then someone else showed up who had cables so they gave mine back right away. It would seem to me that if someone has battery problems, they could be possibly unaware of the situation. As with many accidents, I don't know why everyone gets so prepared to place blame on anybody. Sure, some of the decisions made may seem inappropriate to others, but you really never know unless you were right there at the time. You especially would not know if you were down in a Florida cave at the time. Shit happens, and as Rich would say, everyone is responsible for themselves. I say it was all the guy who got bent's problem, although I don't think you should necessarily have to blame someone for getting DCS either....it is just an unfortunate occurance. We can all learn more from watching how one incident is handled than we can by fighting about it. Besides that, if everyone got along, maybe there would be more commaraderie between all groups and that would allow for better emergency communication and cooperation in the future. My .02.
