There was a guy on techdiver way back when it first started (before your time) - an ozzie named Dr. Steve Helps who went by the handle "Prime Rat", who explained the biochemistry side of bends. Very enlightening stuff. I'm still looking for confirmation of your "blood cell rigidity on high PN2" assertion (other than the elusive "Chinese researchers"), though.
