Subject: Re: Deco on Air or He (Was Origin of Deep Air Thinking)
Pete, I said if you can do an air on air dive, meaning breath air for
the dive and the deco, than heliox with 21 percent will work the same
way. That example is to make you look at your helium thinking. The sum
of the inert gases is what determines deco, not the name of the gas.
Four inerts mixed together would not give you one fourth the deco. The
oxygen window determines the deco as well, but then we are saying the
same thing, since we are using inerts and oxygen only in the mixes.

Pete, you can battle with me all you want in defense of idiots whom you
would not want to know if you met them, but I can assure you that I know
what I am talking about . Certainly, a smart guy like you would want to
learn , not continue making the same mistakes.

Nitrogen by itself is a big mistake. The surface tension caused by high
ppn2's without the presence of helium causes the red blood cells to
become rigid, and since the are biconcave disks that are intended to
fold and bend to get through the small cappilaries, this rigidity is not
good. They anurize the walls of the vessels they are jamming through, or
just become stuck. You,being a doctor (medical doctor , not a bullshit
doctor), should have some samll understanding of what happens when the
stretch receptors in thes vessels are acitvated, you should know by now
what chemicals are released ( lke nitric oxide, and what it then
triggers), and a smart guy like you should know that the immune system,
something that a wise guy like you who runs an AIDS clinic should by
this time have a seriously strong understanding of, goes to work
isolating the area and sending in the troops. You know damn well this is
what happens in this case, or with bubbles that are created when dumb
asses with hard heads fail to do the deep stops and instead run a
profile that brings them up bent and treats the bends with oxygen (
Pete, even you know that this is an ADMITTED FEATURE OF HALDANEAN DECO
MODELS - to reduce the bubbles with oxygen - this is what chambers do) ,
just like everyone was taught by the mongoloid dive instructor with the
third grade education that seems to have been a lot better salesman that
you thought at the time, considering they still have you kicking and
screaming for your deep air and convoluted deco ( read treatment of self
induced bends).

You do your own research, Pete, and look up your own references, or
else you explain to me how people with no pain hits have MRI scans that
look like Multiple Screlerosis in the fastest possible tissues, the
spinal cord and brain, and I can tell you right now, wise guy, that when
your deep air diving hero instruction agency morons get dragged into
court, maybe YOU can read the MRI's as an expert witness.

Think for a minute, Peter, it used to be "deep diving", but now we say
"deep diving on air" to distinguish it. PADI was correct in their
attidude about deep diving, just as many old time players, like Lamar
Hires in cave diving and even Bill Gleason from Skin Diver magazine were
correct in avoiding deep diving - that is until we figured out how to
avoid the problems, like narcosis, bends, damage , impairment, etc.

Pete, "tech diving" means we do no thave to do stupid things anymore.
Tech diving , Pete. I do more of it that anyone you know, and so does my
team. You are listening to people who do not , have not, will not, and
could not, while you should be out there investigating this stuff and
helping with the udnerstanding, like you do with some other aspects of
phsiology and diving, not arguing with me when I have the weight of the
evidence, the track record, and the pile of bodies to prove that what I
am saying is right on the money. You have no explanation for what
happens out there, I do.

Pete, there are two things I remember vividly from the sixties as a
grade schooler - when Kenendy got killed, and a couple of years later
when the Surgeon General said cigarette smoking causes cancer. It was
not until 1997 that the exact mechanism was understood. If you want to
smoke for thirty more years, go ahead, but I believed it right away,
just like I believed deep air was a problem right away from the bullshit
that occured on the dives, the obvious drugged state, the tired way I
felt afterwards, and the immediately available obvious information on
the way that physics, chemistry, and phsiology work.

You can continue to lend your MD to legitimizing and suporting
stupdity, risk, dangerous practices, and help increase the body count,
and be a power of horrible example like the street shit you are
supporting in the tech agencies, or you can wise up and be a force for
doing things right. 1997 , Pete, is a long way from 1965 - enough to get
lung cancer.

And do not ever quote some bullshit deco schedule to me. Call Shell
Oil and tell them they are idiots . You are too much - you believe what
some idiot makes up for a deco program, information created years ago by
morons whcich is poorly constricted and not validated, liek the narcosis
tests and ignore the commercial diving industry, where I get my
information. Hello, Pete, time to wake up.
