Robert - Consider the source of the fill/possibility of contaminated gas...i.e. Carbon Monoxide Poisoning or residual oil in the tank which have accumulated though successive fills off a compressor with improper filtration...try turning the tank upside down for a few minutes and then place a white rag over the valve.. open the valve briefly and then check for contaminates on the cloth..
