Le Jammer ecrit: >Thank god the store I patronize doesn't sound or act like you. >Because of their expertise, as opposed to your "rules", they will >continue to get my diving dollars, and you will not. > >More labels doesn't solve the labeling problem, Ted. I thought it was a good, rational post, and refreshingly free of parroted agency bullshit. Simple, clear, cheap, peelable labels. What the heck is wrong with that? No need for a new standard - that's already the federal one, which the tech agencies can't resist trying to screw up. And one suspects even a non-english speaker would be able to puzzle out what, say, "Argon" or "Oxygen" means. Carrying around a standard (read "big") dive tank loaded with argon and unlabeled is simply dumb - what possible reason could there be NOT to label it? My only criticism, is I wish Ted and others didn't feel the need to be a dive cop when it comes to topping of someones tanks (though his test, cracking the valve open and watching their faces is wonderfully simple, appropriate and hilarious - I'm standing in front of a mirror right now practicing my poker face for my next trip to MD). If a dive shop trusts their air, why the heck not just fill the damn tanks and stop playing cop/psychic/big brother? Does it really make such a big differnce who puts the O2 in? But I will grant that it is his right to do so ( that is, assuming he's joking about draining the tank and throwing them out). -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
