20 minutes into the cave and at a modest 150ffw, an Oceanic Mako (less than
a year old) exploded today on one of my dive partners. After the 'boom',
the Mako became instantly negative dragging the diver toward the cave floor
until he was able to "cut away" and recover. It was surprising just how
negative the machine was. Swimming it out will not be easy.

After everyone was notified of the loss, the scooter was located and the
dive called. The recovery will be tomorrow.

Nothing to indicate the reason as of yet. No injuries, but the diver
indicated that his ass puckered so tight, you couldn't drive a needle in it
with a sledge hammer.

Thought this may be of interest and take note. Even though these things
are rated safe for deeper depths, you best not bet your pet dog on it.
