Omega Engineering (www.omega.com, info@om*.co*) and others
make data acquisition units that will take raw input in this
range and convert it to an rs-232 or parallel output.  These
hockey-puck sized units are very handy for this type of thing,
but they will run you about $250.

Aside from that, yup, you're pretty much brewing your own.  I don't
know exactly what your requirements are, but if you're thinking analog
(which seems the gist of your post) then by all means, man, get 
digital!
